Robert Lyne, My First Student In Worthing To Complete The Suang Yang Form- An Article By Shafagh Amiraftabi Instructor WCMA

I started my Club in Worthing some time ago, initially based at St Pauls in the Herridge Room. The numbers grew over a very short period of time and so we moved to the Main Centre at St Pauls. Not only has the number of students been increasing but I now have a very dedicated team who train very regularly every Monday evening. In order to continue providing the Worthing students with a comfortable training environment we have now moved to the Heene Gallery. Many of my students also take advantage of training in my lunch time class at Trax and also make their way to the Shoreham Centre on Thursday evenings. I am very proud of all of the students training in Worthing and I enjoy sharing my passion for White Crane with them.

Robert started training with me when we were at St Pauls. Robert trains twice a week, every week, and very rarely misses a session. He has shown great enthusiasm and dedication to the White Crane system and to learning Suang Yang. He is always happy to take any corrections and is always asking very interesting questions and contributing in a positive way. He is a popular member of our group and is always very welcoming to new students. The Chief Instructor has met Robert on a number of occasions as Robert has attended training camps and various events.

Robert completed the Suang Yang form on Monday evening. He is my first student in Worthing to do so. This gave me a huge amount of pleasure and as always Robert contributed in a very mature way and explained now that he had learnt the form he wanted to work towards mastering this pattern. Robert is also learning the Straight Sword form and will be attending the Weapons Camp.

Well done to Robert who has shown that there really are no secrets, just training regularly with a positive attitude and healthy interest gets you there. I am sure that Robert will complete the Straight Sword form. We will then have the very pleasant task of deciding what he would like to learn next.
