Lion Dance for the Brighton Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium- An Article by the Chief Instructor Mr Russell Suthern
On Saturday 25th January the WCMA Lion Dance Team were asked to be the half time entertainment for the Brighton v Everton match at home at the Amex Stadium.
This was an incredible opportunity and our biggest performance yet, on the pitch, in front of 30,000 fans! The whole event was a crazy whirlwind of excitement. We received a very warm welcome and our performance was projected onto the big screen so all could see very clearly.
I am so proud of the team who all stepped up and performed incredibly despite the nerves.
Lead Lion; Shafi & Steph Hammerton
Second Lion: Joe Jones & Josh Haigh
Drummer: Kirsty Sloman
Cymbals: Russell Suthern and Carrie
Special thanks goes to our volunteers Ben and Rob who carried the drum and Nik who took lots of great pics.
What an incredible experience. Lion Dance has opened so many doors for us and given the team the opportunity to perform at so many high profile events.
If you are interested in being a part of the team, a series of training days will be scheduled for the coming year. Ask your Instructor for details.
